Barbara Kienast, President
Barbara Kienast is the energetic President and founder of Support Networks Australia, leader of the experienced Foundation Leadership Team, and the President of the Samford Support Network. Barb is a Chemical Engineer and a certified Project Manager working in early medical research. She has lived in 6 countries, is married and mum to 3 boys and found her forever home in Samford in 2010. Barb has been recognized with multiple awards for her volunteer community work, most recently being recognised as a finalist in the Australian of the Year Award 2019 for Queensland. Barb has outstanding networking capabilities, the passion to understand and identify the needs of a community, the compassion to be there when people need it most and then to motivate and inspire local volunteers to help make it all happen. She will bring her outstanding vision and leadership to guide the establishment of future Support Network communities.
Kris Martin, Marketing Strategist
Our efficient Secretary is Kris Martin. She and her husband found their new home in Samford in 2015 having left New Zealand in the mid-90s to study, live and work in the USA, in Europe and in both Brisbane and Sydney. Kris is the General Manager of the Specialist Veterinary Centre in Albany Creek and a Director of the Australian Animal Cancer Foundation. Prior to this she worked for over 20 years managing Corporate Law firms across 3 continents. She is also the volunteer Secretary of the Samford Support Network and has a deep understanding of the CSN Framework.
Steve Parry, Treasurer and IT
Steve Parry is the dedicated Treasurer of Support Networks Australia and the UK addition to the Support Networks Australia. Steve has an extensive background in IT, including running his own company and brings a deep understanding of systems design and implementation to the team. Steve has been involved in community work in the UK and joined the local fire brigade when relocating to the Adelaide Hills and then Samford Rural Fire Brigade when he moved with his family in the late 90s. Steve is the founder of the QAS Samford First Responders and is also the Treasurer of the Samford Support Network and has been instrumental in the design and development of the CSN Framework.
Rachael King, Committee Member & Graphic Design
Rachael King is our passionate committee member for the Support Networks Australia. A local who attended Ferny Grove High School and settled in the Valley 15 years ago after living in the UK, she has seen the Samford Support Network grow from it’s inception in the Samford Community. Rachael is a celebrated and internationally recognized Surface Designer owning her own Textile Design business. Rachael is married with 3 daughters and has been involved in many local charities, providing design services for Samford State School, Creative Samford, Samford Support Network, and now Support Networks Australia.
Sasha Tranberg, Committee Member & Secretary
Sasha Tranberg is the kind and compassionate Secretary for Support Networks Australia. She grew up in Redcliffe and lived in Brisbane for many years before moving to the Samford area with her husband in 2012. Sasha has a background in procurement, which lead to her conducting tenders, managing contracts and delivering training. In addition to her strong administrative, training and governance skills, Sasha brings her passion to grow Support Networks Australia, leveraging her volunteer experience with the Samford Support Network.
Meena Crane, Committee Member
Meena is a chartered accountant and has spent most of her career working in the not-for-profit sector, particularly aged care. Currently she is working at RSL Queensland. Not only does she have a deep understanding of the complex issues people can face and how best to help, she also has a very big heart. Meena is very passionate about supporting the local community and has lived in Samford for the last 14 years after moving here from the UK. She has two kids who both went to Samford State School. Meena says ‘I am excited to join SNA and I hope that my qualifications and experience will help SNA to achieve its goals’.
